That’s it, we are done with newsletters for January 2011 – can you believe the end of the first month is already gone?

Rain has literally been pouring down from the sky, wreaking havoc in some places and bringing relief for others. Parents planning parties suddenly have to have a plan B – just in case it rains.

Now that we are in the month of love and Cupid, I’m sure you will be receiving handmade cards send home from school. So we decided to add a little recipe with each newsletter to feed your little monsters!

If you are a budding entrepreneur in the kiddies party field, scoot on over to our website and check out our advertising rates. We have decided not to increase our rates from last year and we have a Valentine’s offer running until 15 February (because we feel all warm and fuzzy inside) – R80 for 4 months.

This theme is for older girls that like to be pampered and spoilt.

Party Ideas and Décor:

• Ask the guests to dress up for a high tea and wear straw hats
• Vases with flowers
• Polka dot table cloths with flowery napkins

Party Invite Ideas:

• Print the outline of a teapot as the invite.
• Buy miniature straw hats and tie the invite to this.

Lunch Box Ideas: Chicken Salad for Work or School

1. 8 chicken drumsticks
2. 100ml Worcester sauce
3. 100ml chutney
4. 100ml tomato sauce
5. 50ml honey
6. 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Pre-heat oven to 180C. Mix all ingredients except the chicken to form a sticky basting sauce. Coat the chicken and place on a baking tray in the oven and cook for 20mins, basting regularly. Serve on a bed of crunchy lettuce. Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onions. Pack in a cooler lunchbox for the first period (or 10-11am) hunger.
